We have been anxiously awaiting new music from Cassandra Cole since her debut album, Steps. We just love the upcoming new single, Wednesdays. You can hear is on September 18 and/or see her live at Aster Cafe Saturday, September 28.
- I can’t believe it’s been four years since we last spoke via this show. Can you catch us up a little bit with how things are going and what’s keeping you excited these days?
* I cannot believe it has been this long either! After the release of my album, my band and I performed a multitude of gigs and festivals promoting its release. Although it was an amazing experience, it became creatively draining which led to a transition period. I began the process of writing and recording new material and spent a great deal of my time with Matt Patrick at the Library Recording Studio investing in new material. Also, we added a new band member to the group, Elliot who plays drums, Pete who still plays bass and Matt Patrick supported us with his soulful guitar skills. Currently, what excites me is the creation process and the upcoming release of my new songs!
Please tell us about the inspiration for your new song, Wednesdays? It feels like a hug of a song meant for a love interest, a best friend or a kid but so much about the love.
My new single called, “Wednesdays” is a fresh and uptempo tune reflecting the desires of the heart to be wanted. With its sassy undertones and vibrant musicianship, Jason Hafer who produced, Matt Patrick who mixed and Hans DeKline who mastered, helped turn this into something I’m very proud of. I wrote this song awhile ago about my husband. At the time, he was gone quite a bit and out of frustration and longing I wrote this tune on a whim.
Is this the start of something bigger, an album or EP, a follow-up to Steps?
This single is the start to something bigger. I have a few singles that are set to follow which will lead to an EP. My goal is to release more frequently and to post more song ideas on social media. My hopes that more people who are connected to my music will follow this journey with me.
Are you working on a video for the song? The promotional video is so cozy.
I have an extended promo video that will be released shortly, but will release a music video for a different song.

Coming off of the release of my debut album, “Steps,” this much anticipated song is set to hit the airwaves on September, 18th. Follow on all social media platforms @cassandracole.me and all listening services to pre-save, purchase and stream.
Also, the celebration of my release will be at Aster Cafe Saturday, September 28th from 9pm-11pm. I am looking forward to having the talented Jennifer Marie open the evening.
