Live music in a small studio with Mary Strand and Ryan Smith on a Saturday morning is a great way to start the weekend. Mary’s last album, I Don’t Need Your Permission, is intense and empowering. Hearing the backstory of how and when it was written fuels the intensity of the songs. Mary wrote the songs while experiencing an ongoing and life-threatening illness. She used the Sing Songwriter challenge to get her through that rough patch, and the results are fantastic.
Always fun to have Langen Goldstien (Girl at the Rock Shows) cohost. Our theme this week was legends and creatures. You can check out the songs we played below or our aspirational playlist on Spotify.
