Mostly MN Music with Kokou Kah – theme water for Water is Life

What a delight to have Kokou Kah on the show today. He is on the verge of releasing new material and will be performing in New Richmond (WI) on August 27, Rochester August 31 and September 2 at First Avenue.

We saw Kokou perform at the Best New Bands showcase at First Avenue earlier this year and have been trying to get him on ever since. He brings energy, style and joy to his live performances. He brought a depth to our conversation that was honest and thought-provoking. Originally from Liberia, KoKou told us about growing up as a new American and the obstacles he has overcome. Given his background, he could have a salty point of view, but he has actively chosen to turn away from that option and to work toward building people up – including himself.

KoKou had some thing that will stick with me – helping people find joy increases our security. Happy people will leave you alone. Happy people may lift up others. Kokou shares this in his life, his work with youth and his music.
