We are proud to premiere It’s Fine by Ted Hajnasiewicz for World Mental Health Day. The song sounds upbeat, the lyrics are touching, the video brings it to a new level of humanity.
The video pulls on the heartstrings of anyone who has ever answered – how are you? With – it’s so sunny outside. You know, those of us who fly under the radar of saying, It’s fine. In fact, Ted told us that the song speaks to his own inner conflict of wanting to be out and see music and the anxiety of wondering if he fits it. That message is clear in a way that’s comforting. Ted’s welcoming, caring spirit shines through the animated video and watching it feels like a hug.
Drawing from his own feeling and inner voice makes his songs and videos so successful. I might like this video even more than I liked Just For Show, which scored him the best video of the year for 2021 by the Midwest Country Music Organization. We’ll see how he does with a new collaboration with animator Corby Ortmann.
The song includes Sarah Morris on vocals, Steve Peffer (keyboard player for Alabama!) on B3 and Wurli, Tobias Wilson on Dobro and Ryan Rud on lap steel and tambourine. Rumor has it the video even includes Ben Cook-Feltz on piano. It’s a showcase of some of Minnesota’s finest.
