5 Questions on The Legacy Cup Cannabis Festival Sep 30

The Legacy Cup is a cannabis festival offering an immersive, artful, inclusive and safe environment for experiencing cannabis. There are contests, classes and games. There will be music, live art, food trucks and vendors. (21+ welcome.) We were able to ask planner Josh from Legacy Glassworks and performer Heatbox about the event. Answers from Josh…

Josh please tell me about the festival as if I was a curious newbie to the culture of cannabis?

The 4th Annual Legacy Cup is a celebration of local cannabis. At the core is a friendly competition for local cannabis brands to compete for the best of products in various categories. New this year is the best homegrown weed and solventless hash. At this event there will be a full day of education, vendors, food, cannabis games and a safe legal area to consume cannabis.

And now, what has it got for the seasoned member of the community?

The largest public sesh in the Midwest. Bring your headiest pipe and share in Minnesota’s new legal status. Plus compete in the Ganja Games and see if you roll the best joints in the state, have the headiest pipe, your bong hitting skills and your dabbing skills.

What are you looking forward to most?

I am looking forward to thousands of Minnesota’s finally having an event and place to share in their love of cannabis.

Please tell us about your partners’ The Last Prisoner Project?

Last Prisoner Project is the leading national organization ensuring that no one in the U.S. is in prison solely for cannabis charges. Make sure ya stop by the silent auction and be generous with your bids as every penny from the silent auction will go directly to LPP.

How will the event be different post cannabis legalization?

This event has evolved every year! In 2019 at the inaugural Legacy Cup everything was hemp and CBD products. Last year was the first time we could have the low potency edibles and beverages as part of the event.  This year for the first time we can have homegrown weed and hash as categories along with the consumption zone. In future years when the Office of Cannabis Management is fully set up (and dispensaries are open) and issuing licenses we will have the ability to have vendors legally selling weed and hash.

Answers from Heathbox…

Heatbox please tell me about the festival as if I was a curious newbie to the culture of cannabis?
It’s my first time at this festival as well. But, I do know there will be great bands, great cannabis vendors, and some funny events!

And now, what has it got for the seasoned member of the community?
If you love cannabis then you will love this festival. Come out and help support some local vendors!

What are you looking forward to most?
Seeing The Pharcyde perform.

Please tell us about your partners, The Last Prisoner Project?
It is ridiculous that humans are sitting in prison for having possession of a simple plant that people have been using for thousands of years. The last prisoner project aims to change that. It’s a worthy goal.

How will the event be different post cannabis legalization?
I hope one day that taking cannabis is considered about equal to drinking a beer. It shouldn’t be a big deal.
