Sky Island has hit the feel of Mondays in a Minnesota winter with their song and video Monday Hit. There’s something soothing in the tune, which makes the hard rock guitar riff pop in the most rewarding way. Sort of the way a Monday can pop open a decent week. The video is clever, shot near Como Lake. There’s something pleasantly disorienting about a video played backwards.
Sky Island is a new band in town. Both members, Niilo Smith (Vocals, Guitar, Synth) and Ben Fagerness (Drums), come from a metal background but they’re mashing it up with a poppier, synthy sound.
