We have spoken with Amanda Grace in the past but wanted to catch up with her before her upcoming Music in the Chapel show October 6 at the Lakewood Cemetery.
In February, we spoke about your (then) brand new release, Give Me Away. What has been the response since it released?
Overall, I feel like it’s been a very positive response and fans have said they are liking it. I have had a few moments where a particular song really moved them; especially on the unity song, “All We Need.” Matt and I wrote it together and it’s usually the last song we play in our set. We’ve also had a good response from “The Last Ones.”
You are playing in the Music in the Chapel in the Lakewood Cemetery series on October 6. Can you tell us about the series?
The Music in the Chapel series showcases an eclectic range of performers and local musicians for musical performances that showcase the acoustical charms of this historic and unique architectural landmark, right in the heart of the city. I am very honored and excited to be included in this! Matt Patrick was married there so he is excited too!
What makes this a special show for you?
I am thrilled to be playing in such an intimate space; filled with moments & memories kept there from the past. I am hoping to take in my surroundings and express with music the expanse of all that has happened in this chapel.
You seemed to have such a wild and busy summer. Can you give us some highlights? Maybe playing the MN State Fair or Mile of Music Festival.
Yes it was really wild and challenging for sure but I was glad I was able to stay busy and keep sharing my music with people.. and it truly doesn’t get better than meeting new friends and hearing about their stories. The state fair was a really positive experience; the weather was absolutely gorgeous that day and we were able to really concentrate on making the best of the space. The band definitely had a blast performing at the Mile Of Music festival. We played five shows in three days, which was sort of a whirlwind, but we wanted to make the most of being there. The audiences were really aware of the festival feel and were into the music and totally absorbed into supporting the artists; which I loved. When we weren’t playing music, we did some hiking and biking as we’ve not spent much time in Appleton.
What are your hopes for the fall – more touring, more playing, more writing, maybe sleeping?
I don’t know if I’ll probably get any more sleep than I am currently, but I am good at napping so I think I’ll lean on that to get me through. I hope to be able to enjoy fall with all its beauty! Work wise it is hopefully going to be a continued combination of songwriting, performing, and voice acting. I hope to launch out of SE MN a bit but I’m still waiting for plans to come together.
