I love the Minnesota Fringe Festival. Have I ever wanted to perform in a show? Absolutely not. But I am!
A Woman’s Place is in the House is a play by David Alan Berger. It follows Minnesota’s first four female legislators as they journey to today through the wonders of time travel. The legislators (all Representatives) include Mabeth Hurd Paige, Myrtle Agness Cain, Sue Metzger Dickey Hough and Hannah Jensen Kempfer. It is painfully illuminating to see what’s happening today through the eyes of our foremothers. We made so much progress (to be fair, NOT enough but…) and now they are trying to push us back again. It is time to channel the activists who brought us to where we got to help us march harder and remember that “no one is getting left behind this time; we get there together or never get there at all.”
Each night the paly will feature local activists to speak for one long minute. A few night (marked below) I will play the part of a local activist representing Women’s March MN Action Fund (and maybe ERA MN if none of my ERA buddies are available). Turns out I’m a method actor.
