The song is a soothing rock song with a surprising guitar rift. The video is a girl with a voice on a Midwestern autumn day. The colors, the trees, the stone bridge. The simplicity lifts up Amanda’s voice. With any other voice, there might be a sense of vulnerability but Amanda’s voice is to steady and even that there’s strength.
It’s only midway through the song that the religious undercurrent comes through, which I think helps draw in a wider audience. It adds a dimension to the vast images of nature and again Amanda’s strong and unwavering voice. And just when you think you know the songs in comes the guitar. It’s a song of surprises.
