It’s was great to be back in the WMCN studio today and we were delighted to be serenaded by Matt Hannah from his new album House of Illusion, which is coming out on March 8 with a release show on March 11 at The Aster Café.
House of Illusion is Matt’s third album and second with his current lineup of fantastic Minnesota musicians: Erik Koskinen, Ian Allison, JT Bates, Stephen Kung and producer Matt Patrick. This album reaches a new stride, you can feel the comfort and collaboration of with musicians. The songs are about travel and moving and life in little towns. Matt sings from the perspective from the Sidelines, which is a song from the album. He is a natural storyteller and the stories tapped into our own memories of childhood and growing up.
We played songs that made us feel good. I don’t mind saying, we danced a little while we listened. Next week the theme is in celebration of International Women’s Day (March 8) and we’re looking for music by women, trans, nonbinary folks and really anyone but men while we encourage people to speak out for the Equal Right Amendment in Minnesota.
