Mostly MN Music with Cindy Lawson and theme water

If my younger self could see me interviewing Cindy Lawson from The Clams in the future, she’d high five me. It was great to hear about her upcoming album New Tricks releasing on May 20 with a release party at HiFi Hair and Records on May 22.

Cindy talked about how she and the music scene have changed since her days with The Clams, applauding the diversity of bands playing around Minneapolis now and the confidence of those bands to wear what they want, sing what they want, do what they want. That is something Cindy embraces as well – wearing fishnets and being girly because it’s what she wants to do and playing songs that still have that retro bad girl sound but with a message that empowers that recognizes and empowers the good and bad girl in each of us.

Can’t wait until everyone can hear her new songs; I suspect her show on May 6 at the Turf Club (with Willie Wisely and the Scarlet Goodbye).
