Roz Prickel (from Paper Doll Music) is my favorite singer songwriter of the day! She writes the music that I’d love to write – passionate and not afraid to go dark or mean. You can see her live on April 25 at the Real Magic House in Hudson.
Roz wears many hats. In fact she raced to the studio from an earlier gig as a Disney Princess for a kid’s birthday party. Sparkliest guest ever award! Roz teaches singing, she plays Music, she’s in healthcare, she’s done theater and more. She got into song writing unexpectedly after a divorce; a testament to the idea that the right door can’t open until you close the wrong one. She is a prolific writer. She uses nature and fairytales in her music to talk about difficult subjects. She also uses metaphors and allegory – like basing a song on the Queen of Spades in the old Hearts card game. It’s very powerful.
