Delighted to debut Red Eye Ruby’s latest video – Burning Sunbeams. It’s a sneak peek at her newest EP, The Ruby EP, coming out later in 2022 and it will be officially released at Red Eye Ruby’s May residency at Mortimer’s.
The video and song showcase Red Eye Ruby’s engaging and heartwarming voice with a retro motowny sound. The video shows the band performing at The Hook and Ladder interspersed with artful shows that capture the band’s fun and romantic side. We had a chance to speak with Liz Collins (lead singer of the band) last October (2021) about her ability to be the sad girl singing in upbeat tempo. So, no matter how you take the song – Sunbeams will definitely cheer a person up on the darkest days.
Here’s what Liz had to say about the experience…
“We had a great time shooting this video with our friends Hotdish Creatives, a local Minneapolis video production and photography company comprised of Chelsea Oxborough and Jenna Enemy of The Von Tramps. They squeezed us in just before leaving for their European tour, and we got to shoot at one of our favorite local venues, The Hook and Ladder Theater. Jenna and Chelsea came to my house with video equipment and a bunch of yellow roses, and we enjoyed getting creative with lace, rose petals, and anything at our fingertips to create some ultra-feminine rock n roll vibes. Bringing the live band into the Mission Room at The Hook and Ladder was a treat too, and we had just as much fun making this video as we had watching it after it was all done!”
