Sometimes it’s fun to have a friend pop in and see us in the studio and that’s how it felt when Faith Boblett stopped by to tell us about her upcoming shows. She’s playing Wednesday Nov 17 at the Icehouse with Humbird and Laura Hugo and Wednesday Nov 24 at the Seventh Street Entry with Durry and theyself.
Last time we spoke to Faith, she was just releasing her latest album, Take Care. Today we had a chance to catch up with how it’s been going. The album is unabashedly about a bad break up with side of empowering indignation and anger. Each song has a very specific backstory and they are all interesting. We found out that Ugly Things is inspired by something her mom says when siblings argue – why do you have to say ugly things to each other? She was at home with her family with a tune and no lyrics when her mom used the phrase. Faith promptly wrote the song! You can listen in for other stories.
